Frankfort Avenue’s “Cup Hop” Will Appeal to Locals and Ryder Cup Guests
Neighborhood Prepares by Beautifying the Area and Hosting a Special Trolley Hop for the Ryder Cup
Louisville, KY – In celebration of the Ryder Cup, historic Frankfort Avenue will host "The Cup Hop" a special F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, September 19th from 6:00pm - 11:00pm. Over 40 businesses will sponsor a golf-themed scavenger hunt in which the grand prize winner will receive a golf-themed prize package valued at over $500. Free parking and transportation will be provided to the participating shops, restaurants and galleries along the Frankfort, Mellwood and Story Avenue corridor.
As an outreach to the Ryder Cup guests staying in the downtown area, a free bus shuttle, courtesy of TARC, will transport hoppers from the Kentucky International Convention Center to the trolley stop in front of the Clifton Center on Frankfort Avenue. This will be the starting point for the scavenger hunt. Participants will be given three different colored cups and game rules at the starting point, and they must travel along the Frankfort Avenue corridor to obtain signatures from sponsoring business owners. In order to be eligible to win, participants must obtain a total of 18 signatures and report to the Mellwood Art and Entertainment Center for judging before 11:00pm. Three winners will be drawn, with the grand prize being a golf-themed package valued at over $500. Participants must be 18 years of age and winners need not be present to win.
As an outreach to the Ryder Cup guests staying in the In addition, the Frankfort Avenue Business Association (FABA), the Crescent Hill Community Council, and the Clifton Community Council are working together to beautify the neighborhood by completing the design and installation of new street banners before the Ryder Cup guests arrive in town.

Many other FABA retailers and galleries will be displaying golf-related exhibits and items, including the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center which will host “18 Art Holes.” The interactive exhibit will be comprised of 18 holes of fully functioning indoor miniature golf. Each one of the 18 art holes will be designed and constructed by a different artist or group of artists working together.
